For heavy-duty work or recreational applications, there’s only one truck for the job: the 2025 Chevy Silverado 2500 HD. This pickup offers greater power and towing strength than the full-size Silverado 1500 without the extra weight and expense of going all the way to the 3500 HD. Let’s see how the Silverado 2500 HD is built to haul and built to last.
What Makes the Silverado 2500 Different…and Better?
Work-Ready Power and Strength
The Silverado 2500 is available with two engine options. The standard engine is a 6.6L V8 that delivers 410 horsepower and 464 lb-ft of torque. It’s paired with a 10-speed Allison automatic transmission. To unlock maximum towing power and efficiency, there’s a 6.6L Duramax Turbo-Diesel V8 engine that produces 470 horsepower and 975 lb-ft of torque. It supports conventional towing of up to 22,000 pounds or gooseneck towing of up to 22,500 pounds.
Most models come with rear-wheel drive as standard, but four-wheel drive is available across the lineup and standard in models such as ZR2 and High Country. The truck’s available off-road Z71 and ZR2 packages include Rancho monotube shocks, skid plates, and a locking rear differential.
Spacious and Comfortable Interior
The Silverado 2500 comes in six capable trims, each of which offers varying levels of comfort and convenience features. Depending on trim, drivers can choose between a regular cab, double cab, and crew cab layout, which provides flexibility in passenger and cargo space. Crew cab models are the most spacious, with nearly 45 inches of rear legroom. The rear seat includes under-seat storage bins and a fold-down center armrest.
The WT trim offers basic work-ready features such as vinyl seats with manual adjustments. Interior amenities increase as you climb the trim lineup, with leather upholstery becoming available in LT, and heated/ventilated front seats and a heated steering wheel offered as standard equipment in LTZ and up. High Country is reserved for premium features such as wood trim, heated rear seats, and adaptive cruise control.
Functional Truck Bed
The Silverado 2500 has 6.75-foot and 8-foot bed options. The bed is a Durabed cargo box that includes 12 standard tie-downs rated at 500 pounds each. Bed lighting and a 120V outlet are optional add-ons. The available Multi-Flex Tailgate can be configured in six unique positions, including a step, drop-down inner gate, and two load stops. A power tailgate is available starting on LT and standard on LTZ and higher.
Connected and Capable Tech
Starting on the LT trim, all models come standard with a 13.4-inch center touchscreen and a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster. The infotainment system has built-in Google software and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Up to ten camera views are available through the touchscreen, including trailer-specific views. Depending on trim, other connectivity features include a wireless charging pad, Wi-Fi hotspot, and rear-seat USB ports.
