Chevy Pre-Owned Vehicles: What Thurmont, MD Buyers Should Know

If you're in the market for a used vehicle but want added peace of mind, Chevy Pre-Owned vehicles are worth a close look. For buyers in Thurmont, MD, this program offers a structured, transparent path to vehicle ownership that goes well beyond a standard used car purchase. Understanding how it works can help you make a confident, informed decision. more read the rest of this entry What Makes a Vehicle Chevy Pre-Owned? Not every used Chevrolet qualifies for the Chevy Pre-Owned criteria. To earn that designation, a vehicle must meet specific criteria set by Chevrolet. First, it must be a Chevrolet model that is no more than five model years old with fewer than 75,000 miles on the odometer. Once a vehicle meets those basic requirements, it goes through a thorough 172-point inspection conducted by a GM-certified technician. This inspection covers everything from the engine and transmission to the brakes, tires, and interior components. Only vehicles that pass this evaluation earn the certified label. What Coverage Comes With a Chevy Pre-Owned Vehicle? One of the biggest advantages of purchasing a chevy pre-owned vehicle is the warranty coverage that comes with it. Pre-Owned Chevrolets include a 12-month or 12,000-mile bumper-to-bumper limited warranty. They also come with a powertrain limited warranty that extends coverage to five years or 60,000 miles from the original in-service date. That powertrain coverage includes major components like the engine, transmission, and drivetrain - items that can be costly to repair. Additionally, certified vehicles include roadside assistance for the duration of the powertrain warranty, which is a practical benefit for everyday drivers. Additional Benefits You Should Know About Beyond the warranty, the chevy pre-owned program includes several other perks. Buyers receive a vehicle history report, so you can review a car's ownership and service records before making a decision. There's also an optional limited warranty available for purchase that can extend coverage even further. Certified vehicles may also qualify for special financing rates through GM Financial, making the purchase more accessible for a range of budgets. For drivers in Thurmont, MD, these benefits add real value to what might otherwise seem like a standard used vehicle transaction. Frequently Asked Questions About Chevy Certified Pre-Owned Vehicles Can I trade in my current vehicle toward a Pre-Owned purchase? Yes. Many buyers use a trade-in to offset the cost of their next vehicle. You can get a trade-in estimate before you visit to help plan your budget. Are all Chevrolet models available as Pre-Owned? Not necessarily. Availability depends on current inventory. Popular models like the Silverado, Equinox, and Trax frequently appear in Certified Pre-Owned selections, but stock changes regularly. Is the 172-point inspection available for me to review? Yes. When you purchase a Chevy Pre-Owned vehicle, the inspection checklist is available so you can see exactly what was evaluated and verified. Does the powertrain warranty transfer if I sell the vehicle? Yes, the powertrain limited warranty is transferable, which can be an advantage if you decide to sell the vehicle before the coverage expires. Can Certified Pre-Owned vehicles be serviced at any Chevrolet dealership? Yes. Warranty service for Pre-Owned vehicles can be performed at any authorized Chevrolet dealership in the United States. Why Chevy Certified Pre-Owned Vehicles Are Worth Considering When you're comparing your options, Chevy Pre-Owned vehicles stand out because they combine the value of a used vehicle with the confidence of a structured inspection and warranty program. You know what you're getting, and you're protected if something goes wrong. For shoppers in Thurmont, MD, who want a reliable vehicle without the full price of a new model, choosing Pre-Owned is a smart middle ground. Visit us to browse available inventory and find the right fit for your needs and budget.

2026 Chevy Equinox showing its unique design and latest technology.

Chevy Equinox vs Trailblazer: Which Crossover Fits Thurmont, MD Drivers Best?

If you're shopping for a new Chevy crossover and wondering how the Chevy Equinox vs Trailblazer stack up, you're not alone. Both SUVs have a lot going for them, but they serve slightly different needs. Here's a straightforward look at what each model offers so you can decide which one makes the most sense for your lifestyle in Thurmont, MD. more read the rest of this entry Size and Space: Chevy Equinox vs Trailblazer The 2027 Chevy Equinox is the larger of the two. It seats five passengers and offers up to 63.5 cubic feet of maximum cargo volume with the rear seats folded flat. That's a meaningful amount of room for families hauling groceries, sports gear, or luggage. The Trailblazer is a subcompact crossover that's a step down in overall size. It's nimbler and easier to maneuver in tighter spaces, which can be a genuine advantage for city driving or parking in crowded lots. However, if cargo capacity is a priority, the Equinox has a clear edge. Performance and Capability The Equinox runs on an efficient 1.5-liter turbocharged engine producing 175 horsepower and 203 pound-feet of torque. Available all-wheel drive gives it solid traction in changing road conditions, and it can tow up to 1,500 pounds when properly equipped. The Trailblazer offers smaller engine options that prioritize fuel efficiency over outright capability. It doesn't match the Equinox's towing capacity, but it delivers a peppy, responsive feel that works well for everyday commuting. For drivers who don't need towing capability, either crossover handles daily driving with ease. Technology and Infotainment The 2027 Equinox features a standard 11.3-inch diagonal infotainment touchscreen with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Google Built-In compatibility. Available wireless phone charging and OnStar connectivity round out a feature set that feels genuinely modern and useful. The Trailblazer also offers a capable infotainment system, though the screen size varies by trim. Both vehicles bring solid technology to the table when comparing the chevy equinox vs trailblazer, but the Equinox's larger display and broader available features give it an advantage for tech-forward buyers. Safety Features One of the Equinox's strongest points is its safety suite. The 2027 model comes with more than 15 standard safety and driver assistance features, including Automatic Emergency Braking, Front Pedestrian Braking, Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning, Forward Collision Alert, and Following Distance Indicator - all part of the standard Chevy Safety Assist package. The Trailblazer includes many of the same core safety technologies, so neither model leaves you underprotected. Both are solid choices for drivers who prioritize confidence on the road. Which One Is Right for You? Think about what matters most to your daily routine. If you regularly carry passengers, need cargo flexibility, or want available towing capability, the Equinox is likely the better fit. If you want a smaller, more affordable crossover that's easy to park and efficient to drive, the Trailblazer deserves a close look. Drivers throughout Thurmont, Maryland will find that both models offer real value - it ultimately comes down to the size and features that best match how you use your vehicle every day. Frequently Asked Questions Q: Is the Chevy Equinox bigger than the Trailblazer? Yes. The Equinox is a compact crossover with more interior space and cargo volume, while the Trailblazer is a subcompact crossover designed for a smaller footprint. Q: Does the Equinox have all-wheel drive? Yes. Available all-wheel drive is offered on the 2027 Chevy Equinox for added traction in varied conditions. Q: Which has better technology, the Equinox or Trailblazer? Both offer modern infotainment options, but the Equinox's standard 11.3-inch touchscreen and broader available features give it an edge in the chevy equinox vs trailblazer technology comparison. Visit Criswell Chevrolet of Thurmont Whether you land on the Chevy Equinox vs Trailblazer, both are well-rounded crossovers backed by strong safety technology and modern convenience features. The Equinox shines when you need more space, capability, and a larger tech footprint. The Trailblazer appeals to buyers who want something nimble and easy to manage. Stop by and explore both models to find the right fit for the roads around Thurmont, MD.

Schedule expert auto maintenance and repair services to keep your vehicle safe and reliable.

Signs Your Chevy Needs Routine Maintenance

Your Chevy is built to be dependable, but even the most reliable vehicles need a little attention from time to time. Knowing the signs your Chevy needs routine maintenance can save you from unexpected breakdowns and costly repairs down the road. Whether you drive a Silverado, Equinox, Traverse, or Trax, staying ahead of your vehicle's service needs keeps you safe and your Chevy running at its best. more read the rest of this entry Why Staying on Top of Maintenance Matters Routine maintenance is about more than just following a schedule — it's about protecting your investment. Ignoring early warning signs can turn a simple oil change or fluid top-off into a much larger repair bill. For drivers in Thurmont, MD, keeping your Chevy in peak condition means you can count on it whether you're navigating daily commutes or weekend road trips. Warning Lights on Your Dashboard One of the most obvious signs your Chevy needs routine maintenance is an illuminated warning light. Your vehicle's onboard systems are constantly monitoring performance, and when something needs attention, a light will appear on your instrument cluster. The check engine light, oil pressure warning, and tire pressure monitoring system indicator are among the most common alerts you might see. Don't ignore these lights, even if your vehicle seems to be running fine. Some issues that trigger warning lights are minor, but others can point to something that needs prompt attention. Bringing your Chevy in for a diagnostic check is always the smart move when a light appears. Unusual Noises, Vibrations, or Smells Your Chevy should run smoothly and quietly during normal operation. If you start hearing squealing or grinding when you brake, that's a strong signal your brake pads may be worn and in need of replacement. Rattling sounds from underneath the vehicle could point to exhaust or suspension issues. Vibrations while driving or at highway speeds can indicate tire wear, alignment problems, or issues with the wheels. Unusual smells — like burning oil, a sweet coolant odor, or something musty from the vents — are also signs your Chevy needs routine maintenance or a closer inspection. These sensory cues are your vehicle's way of communicating that something has changed. Fluid Leaks or Low Fluid Levels Fluids are the lifeblood of your Chevy's engine and various systems. If you notice spots or puddles under your vehicle after it's been parked, that's worth paying attention to. Oil, coolant, transmission fluid, and brake fluid each have a distinct appearance and color, and any of them leaking can lead to serious damage if left unchecked. Even if you don't see visible leaks, regularly checking your fluid levels is a good habit. Low engine oil, for example, can cause excessive friction and wear on internal components. During routine Chevy service in Thurmont, MD, a technician will check and top off fluids as part of a standard inspection. Changes in Performance or Fuel Efficiency If your Chevy doesn't feel quite as responsive as it used to — sluggish acceleration, difficulty starting, or a noticeable drop in fuel efficiency — those are signs your Chevy needs routine maintenance. Worn spark plugs, a dirty air filter, or a clogged fuel injector can all affect how efficiently your engine runs. A drop in performance isn't always dramatic. Sometimes it's gradual, and you might not notice it right away. If something just feels "off" compared to how your vehicle normally drives, trust that instinct and schedule a service appointment. Mileage and Time-Based Maintenance Intervals Even if your Chevy seems to be running perfectly, mileage and time-based service intervals still apply. Oil changes, tire rotations, brake inspections, air filter replacements, and multi-point inspections are all part of keeping your vehicle healthy over the long term. Your owner's manual outlines the recommended schedule for your specific model. Many drivers use the oil life monitoring system in their Chevy as a guide for when to schedule an oil change. It's a helpful tool, but it's worth combining that with a broader look at all your vehicle's service needs. Scheduling routine Chevy service in Thurmont, MD ensures a trained technician can catch anything that might need attention before it becomes a bigger problem. Visit Criswell Chevrolet of Thurmont for Expert Service Whether you've noticed a warning light, heard a strange noise, or it's simply time for a routine checkup, the service team at Criswell Chevrolet of Thurmont is here to help. Don't wait until a small issue turns into a major repair — drivers throughout Thurmont, MD can count on knowledgeable service professionals to keep their Chevrolet running reliably for miles to come.

Chevy Brake Inspection

3 Signs It's Time for a Chevy Brake Inspection

Worn or damaged brakes are dangerous, as they make it difficult to control your Chevy's speed and stop whenever you want to. As your trusted Chevy dealership in Thurmont, MD, we can fix any possible brake issue. We'd like you to know some signs you need to visit us for a brake service. Damaged Brake Vacuum Booster Before the mid-1970s, applying the brakes meant using a significant amount of effort. Since then, brake vacuum boosters have been installed in every vehicle to make braking easier. The booster is connected to your brake pedal, and it uses a vacuum system to magnify the force you use on the pedal by 10x. The braking system responds faster, and you won't get leg strain. If you press down on the pedal and it barely moves, there's a problem with the booster. Inside the booster is a rubber bladder that helps produce the vacuum. Over time, the bladder can leak, and without the vacuum, this system won't work. The vacuum can also be lost due to worn seals or gaskets that allow air to enter. We'll examine the booster and repair or replace it to fix this problem. more Screeching Noises High-pitched screeching when you brake is never a good sign. This annoying and stressful noise is actually a warning that you need new brake pads. Brake pads have a rough material covering, and they fit into the calipers, which are positioned above your wheels. When you hit the brakes, the calipers are forced against the rotors, and the material on the pads generates friction against the rotors, which stops the wheels. The material on a new pad is 1/2" thick, but it slowly wears down each time you brake. When the material thickness reaches 1/4", a metal spike built into the pad becomes visible. The spike will scratch against the rotor each time you brake, alerting you that it's time to change the pads. We can replace worn pads in minutes, and your brakes will work smoothly and quietly again. Pedal Vibrations If you hit the brakes and you feel vibrations through the pedal, the most common cause is a damaged rotor. The rotors, which are positioned behind the wheel hubs, are smooth, flat disks. As we've seen, the calipers clamp against the rotors to stop your vehicle. Over time, their flat surfaces can become more irregular due to rust, the buildup of dried adhesive from the brake pads that liquified and then hardened in the heat, and other causes. We fix this problem by removing the affected rotor and using a machine to resurface it. This involves carefully removing the upper layers of the metal to make the rotor surface flat and smooth again. If you have a brake problem, visit our Service Center and Schedule Service ASAP at Criswell Chevrolet of Thurmont in Thurmont, MD.
